Pueblo Pottery
We are making clay pots and symbols to place on our pots like the Pueblos. Each child has made a pinch pot so far. We had to practice several times so that we had a plan before we begun to paint the actual pottery.

JAPANESE GARDEN PROJECT
Our class began sketching our plants for our field guide project. |
We had to study our plants closely. |
Each student focused on one part of their plant. |
This was our first time sketching our plant. |
Each student chose one plant to research and they will become the expert on their particular plant. |
All of us worked very hard on our sketches. |

Our Trip to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
Our tour guide gave each of us a piece of cotton to feel. A lot of our clothes are made from cotton. |
Here we were able to plant carrot seeds. We dug a hole with our finger and then placed the seeds in and covered them up with soil. |
We tasted the lettuce in the garden. |
This is a stick sculpture made by Patrick Daugherty called "Diamonds in the Rough". |
Goslings were following their mother into the water. |
We drew on paper using flowers! |

MATTER DAY
We enjoyed Matter Day! We made slime, ooblek, and watched many substances make physical and chemical changes. We also learned that not everything we experimented with was safe for us to eat. The popcorn and pudding were fun and great to taste. In our experiments we watched substances change from a liquid to a solid and then to a gas.
As we performed our experiments we noticed if the mass or volume changed.
Many of use loved playing with the slime. We started with a liquid then as we added the other indgredients it changed to a solid.
